Holistic

Relating to or concerned with wholes or with complete systems rather than with the analysis of, treatment of, or dissection into parts.

Holistic wellness or health care looks at the whole person as mind-body-spirit. Dualistic healthcare, traditional Western medicine, refers to treating the mind and body separately.

Integrative medicine or healthcare combines both conventional (Western medicine) with complementary and alternative medicine. Each type of medicine has its strengths and weaknesses. Sometimes one type of medicine makes more sense than the other. We can have the best of both. We don’t have to pick sides.

People don’t understand that being spiritual or healthy is duality. You can read enlightening books and still go out and party. You can have beautiful energy and still cuss up a storm. You can eat whole foods but still enjoy pre packaged cookies. People (the internet) have us believing that if we’re spiritual or want to be healthy we have to look and act a certain way to fit the profile. That’s not the case. Just be yourself.

I know learning about and working on your wellness can feel like a lot and be overwhelming. I want to share my knowledge and what I learn with you. Hopefully in a way that’s easy to understand and easy to integrate into your lives.

What works for me may not work for you and vice versa. That’s okay! Tune into yourselves, be aware of how things make you feel physically and mentally. If it makes you feel better, keep doing it. If it doesn’t, then stop. Easier said than done, I know. But if we start living with awareness and seeking the knowledge to help guide us, we can begin to live better in mind, body, and spirit. A little at a time. 😊
